Koya-san Day 1

We hit the Buddhist land of Koyasan for the weekend n roughed it up in the Sekisho-in Temple n slept like monks for the night. Here's our room view of the garden. After the train you have to take the cable car up the mountain.

Well I lied slightly about the room, it was beautiful, here we are under the kotatsu (heated table). But I was prepared to rough it (honestly).

60 Tori gates.

A strange piece of art we found. We also had some moji, Japanese sweet snack, similar to Turkish delight, we warmed ourselves by the fire as we ate and drank tea.

The glorious meal, this was all just for the 2 of us and the picture doesn't even have the rice and tea in it!! There was tofu, tempura, miso soup, aubergine, noodle pot with more veg, beans, more tofu n pumpkin, noodle salad, kiwi n apple n some other strange desert. And you guessed... I didn't finish!

After eating we hit the graveyard, 200,000 tombs making it the largest in Japan, we had fun in the dark with the flashlight....

Walking around in a the largest graveyard in all of Japan at night has to be one of the coolest things I've done in a while.

It looks like Scott doesn't have teeth. Maybe that's what his face will look like when he's 85 years old (if he makes it that far).
